On August 16, the Union Cabinet approved three major metro rail projects in Karnataka and Maharashtra, totaling about ₹30,765 crore.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Project Phase-3 will include two corridors: one from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura and another from Hosahalli to Kadabagere, with a combined cost of ₹15,611 crore, set to begin operations by 2029.
The Cabinet sanctioned the Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project with an investment of ₹12,200 crore, designed to connect major locations across Thane.
Additionally, the Pune Metro Phase-1 extension from Swargate to Katraj, spanning 5.46 km and costing ₹2,954.53 crore, is scheduled for completion by 2029.
Two new civil enclaves were also approved: Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal, costing ₹1,549 crore, and Bihta in Bihar, with a cost of ₹1,413 crore.
